The documents are sent from the scanner to a location within the customer server. In Athento is possible to set up cron tasks or tasks that are executed in a certain frequency. Picking up documents from an SFTP location can be one of those programmed tasks.
The documents remain in the customer server until they are picked up by Athento. Every time Athento executes the document fetching, it connects via SFTP to the Lindorff service and take the documents from there.
If the network service goes down, the documents remain in the SFTP location. Even if the server that hosts Athento goes down, the documents will still be keeped in the customer SFTP location.
In case of business applications integration, these applications must control that, if no connection is available to Archiving Solution, they must keep the request (document and metadata) until it can correctly be sent to the Archiving Solution. This may be controlled at the ESB level too.
